Any possible move to England can not be done as the window slammed shut on Thursday evening, having previously been linked with Manchester United.
According to Spanish publication Onda Cero, the Colombia international has now decided he wants to join cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid.
The attacking midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Serie A outfit Napoli in recent weeks, but it seems Atletico have taken the lead in the race for his signature.
The report claims that Los Blancos value Rodriguez at €50million, although Napoli reportedly want to sign the midfielder on loan for the upcoming season.

Rodriguez spent the last two seasons on loan at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, but the German giants champions decided against making the move permanent.
