The €100 million (R1.56 billion) signing made his first appearance for Los Blancos in a 3-1 pre-season friendly defeat to Bayern Munich in Houston, Texas.
Hazard played the first half of the loss and wore the No. 50 shirt, to the surprise of many. However, it has since been revealed that he opted to wear the number as a homage to the first moon landing on its 50-year anniversary.
Saturday was the 50th anniversary of the day American astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon, and Hazard wanted to honour the giant step for mankind, according to the Daily Mirror.

Hazard's shirt number at Real is still unknown, though, with the latest reports suggesting he could wear the No. 23 jersey.
His favoured No.10, which he wore at Chelsea, is currently worn by 2018 Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric, while the No. 7 shirt is currently held by Mariano Diaz.
Many thought Hazard would get Cristiano Ronaldo's former number once he completed his move to Santiago Bernabeu, but Diaz seemingly does not want to give it up.
Hazard also previously wore the No. 17 shirt, but this is currently taken by Lucas Vazquez.
