Los Blancos want to reinforce their right-back position and are keen on doing that by signing the England international.
The 26-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract at Anfield, and with rumours of a potential extension yet to surface, the prevailing sentiment is that he is poised to leave his boyhood club after two decades.
While it seems unlikely that he will re-sign with the six-time European champions, the reigning Spanish and European champions are not putting all their eggs in one basket as far as Alexander-Arnold is concerned.
According to Diario AS, Los Merengues are also looking at signing Tottenham Hotspur's Pedro Porro and Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong.
Real are keen on replacing an ageing Dani Carvajal in the right full-back position, and Porro is slowly doing that at the national team level. The 25-year-old played every minute in Spain's previous two internationals, and the same report claims that the club want to do the same.
In the case of Frimpong, he is currently a player for the German champions and is playing under Xabi Alonso, a manager who is also believed to be of interest to the Madrid-based club. Should they successfully lure Alonso, it is presumed that he can help them sign the Dutchman.

Both of the aforementioned operations would be costly, given that both their contracts expire in 2028.
It is for this reason that it is believed Alexander-Arnold remains the number one priority, as he is the most accomplished of the trio and would not command a massive transfer fee.
