Real Madrid have reportedly made a decision on whether to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold during the January transfer window amid their right-back crisis.

Los Blancos have identified the right full-back position as a weakness in their defence after heavy home defeats to Barcelona and AC Milan.
Dani Carvajal sustained a season-ending knee injury early in the campaign, and Lucas Vazquez has seemingly struggled to deputise in his absence.
Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao bombarded the Real right-hand side during their 3-1 UEFA Champions League victory earlier this week. While it is believed that Vazquez was not blamed for the loss, the result did highlight where the team needs improvement.
Alexander-Arnold's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, and while he is viewed as the number one candidate to take over from Carvajal long-term, according to Relevo, Real are keener on pursuing his services when they can acquire him for free, rather than paying a transfer fee when the window reopens.
Immediate solutions would consequently have to come from the club's academy, La Fabrica. The same report claims that 17-year-old Jesus Fortea is the defender with the best chance of joining the first team.
Lorenzo Aguado might have been the preferred choice, but it is said that the 22-year-old has suffered an untimely injury, paving the way for Fortea's integration into the team. There are concerns, though, about playing the teenager as he has yet to even play a match for Real Madrid Castilla.
