Erling Haaland has long been admired by the Los Blancos hierarchy for a few years, but he opted to join the Citizens last season.

Los Blancos, meanwhile, are also searching for a long-term successor for Karim Benzema and were only able to bring in Joselu on loan for the campaign.
According to Cadena SER, Bellingham is now trying to reunite with the Norwegian striker, having spent a couple seasons together at Borussia Dortmund.
Spanish journalist Manu Carreno claims Bellingham has been in regular contact with Man City striker and trying to convince him to make the switch.
"What I understand is that Bellingham and Haaland talk to each other almost every week," journalist Manu Carreno said on the radio show El Larguero.
"Bellingham calls him and tells him to come to Real Madrid. They already met in Dortmund and it seems Haaland doesn't like Manchester very much."
Los Blancos were one of the teams trying to sign Haaland in 2022, with his agent Rafaela Pimenta and father Alfie making a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu.
