Real Madrid 'Decide' On Timeline For Haaland Move

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly decided on when they will make an official move for Manchester City's record-breaking striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has enjoyed a stellar debut season in England, having so far found the back of the net on an incredible 47 occasions across all competitions.

Following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund, rumours that the 22-year-old's deal in Manchester includes a buyout clause that can be activated in 2024 emerged, which Los Blancos could be looking to take advantage of.

The release clause, said to be worth €200 million (R4 billion), is believed to be of interest to the Spanish giants, who are said to be preparing a future bid for Haaland.

Football Insider reports that the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners see the former Bundesliga striker as a long-term replacement for 2022 Ballon d'Or victor Karim Benzema, who is expected to extend his current contract in Spain until 2024.

The clause in Haaland's deal in England can reportedly only be triggered by clubs outside of the Premier League, leaving top sides abroad such as Real, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain as favourites to land his signature should he seek a new challenge.

An exit might, however, come down to the forward himself, who appears to have found scoring relatively easy since making the switch to what many believe is the toughest league in the world and has publicly discussed his happiness under Pep Guardiola.

Haaland is one strike away from breaking Mohamed Salah's all-time record (32) for the most goals scored in a 38-match EPL campaign, while he is three away from beating Alan Shearer and Andy Cole's joint-record (34) in a 42-game season.
