With his contract at Real Madrid set to expire at the end of the season, Karim Benzema has reportedly decided when he will call time on his career with Los Blancos.

According to AS, the superstar Frenchman has agreed to extend his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu for one more season, and will remain captain of the side.
It is understood that the next campaign, however, will be the Lyon native's final one in the Spanish capital as he realises the need for squad regeneration, especially in the forward line.
Real are reportedly able to renew Benzema's contract through an unwritten clause at the club whereby the winner of the Ballon d'Or automatically extends his stay.
The 35-year-old marksman won the award last year after a sensational 2021/22 campaign with Los Merengues, with his goalscoring prowess playing a big part in Real winning the UEFA Champions League, LaLiga and Supercopa de Espana titles.

The former France international scored an astonishing 44 goals in 46 matches for the record European champions as he cemented his place in the Spanish giants' history.
The club has already confirmed the acquisition of Brazilian youngster Endrick, who will officially join once the 2023/24 concludes, and will likely be in the market for another elite forward once the curtain begins to draw on Benzema's illustrious career in Madrid.

Toni Kroos has confirmed that he, too, will prolong his stay at the club for one more season, while Luka Modric is also expected to do the same as the veteran core of the club looks to enjoy one final season together.
