The Spanish giants' European campaign went from bad to worse on Wednesday as they suffered a defeat at Anfield, dropping to 24th in the competition's league phase.
Frustratingly for Real fans, Mbappe squandered an excellent chance to equalise in the 61st minute from the penalty spot as he saw his effort saved by Caoimhin Kelleher.
Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister had put the Reds ahead only nine minutes earlier, with Cody Gakpo doubling Liverpool's lead 14 minutes before the final whistle.
Concerns over Mbappé's form for Los Blancos continue, though teammate Bellingham refused to point fingers in one direction.
"Things like that can happen," he said, according to beIN Sports.
"The pressure he has because of how good he is is very big. We didn't lose because of the penalty. They played better than us.
"Kylian has to keep his head up, and he will produce great moments for this club."
The 21-year-old went on to criticise his team's overall performance.
"We didn't control the game, we didn't maximise the time we had the ball, we lost possession too much," he added.
"They boxed us into positions where we couldn't do anything. It's a bad result against the best team in Europe, but it's not a disaster to lose here.
"We have three more games, and it's important to win them all to have a chance of advancing."
