Ronaldo Faces R20 Million Fine After Spat With Ten Hag

Ronaldo Faces R20 Million Fine After Spat With Ten Hag

Having seemingly fallen out with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly facing a R20 million fine after refusing to come on against Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday night.

Perfect Arsenal Qualify For Europa League Knockout Stage

Ronaldo has found himself in hot water with Ten Hag following his antics during United's 2-0 win over Spurs in midweek. The 37-year-old trudged off the bench and left the stadium before the final whistle as the Red Devils secured an important victory over their top four rivals.

For refusing to come on against the Lilywhites and then leaving Old Trafford under his own volition, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been left out of the squad that is set to take on Chelsea this weekend and will reportedly be training by himself until further notice.

According to the Daily Star, Ronaldo could be facing further punishment as Ten Hag looks to stamp his authority on the United dressing room. The 52-year-old Dutch tactician is set to fine the forward two weeks wages for his indiscretion, which ultimately amounts to £1 million (R20 million).

This is not the first time Ronaldo has left a game before its conclusion. He first displayed this behaviour in a pre-season fixture against Rayo Vallecano, and, while Ten Hag described the exit as "unacceptable", the former Ajax Amsterdam boss was lenient with the Real Madrid icon.

Lukaku's Chelsea Exit Imminent?

Now it appears that Ronaldo has gone a step too far and will reportedly have to issue an apology to his teammates, having since taken to Instagram to express the reasoning for his behaviour.

United's top goalscorer last season seemed determined to leave the club during the off-season but with his recent actions, he may have expedited the process as both parties will not want this issue to be lingering for long.
