Carlos Tevez has explained why he has not yet contacted Lionel Messi following Argentina's success at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
'Simeone Told Me You Can Only Stop Messi By Praying'
From the outside, it appeared every single Argentine – fans, players and ex-players alike – were overjoyed by the Albiceleste's triumph in the Middle East in December.
Tevez, however, has left the impression following a recent radio interview that he might have enjoyed watching fellow finailsts France more than he did his own country, and also explained that he has not congratulated Messi due to how many messages he assumes his ex-teammate has received since.
"I didn't follow the World Cup in Qatar very closely but I saw France a lot, because it was a team that I liked," he said while speaking on Radio Mitre.
"I have not written to Messi because his phone must have been blown up.
"It makes me very happy that my children celebrated his goals."
The former Manchester United and Manchester City forward made 76 appearances for Argentina between 2004 and his final game in 2015, scoring 13 goals.
