Following Matias Messi's bizarre rant aimed at Barcelona earlier this week, club president Joan Laporta has revealed whether his comments will impact Lionel Messi's relationship with the Spanish giants.
Messi's Brother Releases Statement After Barca Rant
Earlier this week, Matias claimed that his brother would only return to the Blaugrana if they got rid of president Laporta, while he also said his sibling made the club famous.
The 40-year-old has since apologised for his remarks made in a Twitch stream, with the Paris Saint-Germain footballer's representatives also having reportedly distanced themselves from his actions.
Laporta, meanwhile, has said he accepts the apology and insisted Messi's relationship with the LaLiga leaders will not be negatively impacted.
"I take away all the importance because he has already apologised," he said, according to FOX Deportes.
"Everything he has said is understandable; let's leave it there and don't give it more importance... they do not affect the relationship between Leo and FC Barcelona at all."
The Barca chief then refused to be drawn into speculation as to whether or not Messi could return to the club when his contract at PSG expires in June.
"It is obvious that Leo Messi is Barca's patrimony and, in this sense, we are very proud to have had the best player in the world with us and surely in history," he continued.
