Questions over Lionel Scaloni's future remain amid suggestions he has become fatigued and taken strain since lifting the World Cup trophy in Qatar.
Following a 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Brazil in November, the 45-year-old admitted he needs time to think about his role.
His comments were followed up by a report from The Athletic, who claimed Scaloni was left "agitated" by Messi for leading his teammates off the field during fan clashes prior to kick-off without consulting him or his management team.
The captain, however, remains a key member of the Albiceleste squad, although reports suggest that the Argentine tactician is planning to make several changes in the coming months.
According to ESPN, Scaloni has already identified some players he wants to drop from the group to ensure his squad stays as competitive as possible ahead of the 2024 Copa America.
