According to the Daily Mirror, the Dutchman is "facing a dressing-room revolt" at the Red Devils, with certain players in the team believed to have become "disillusioned".
The struggling English giants suffered a loss to the Magpies this past Saturday in what many believe was one of the side's most dysfunctional performances of the 2023/24 season.
During the game, Ten Hag was seen in a touchline spat with Anthony Martial, who started the match up front, while Marcus Rashford has received heavy criticism following his display at St. James' Park.
The report claims a number of players in the squad are battling to deal with United's current predicament, with 10 defeats from the 21 matches they have played so far in all competitions.
It is said Ten Hag could have a difficult time keeping his players on his side, with a string of important games lined up this month.
United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, while they will take on Bayern Munich in a must-win UEFA Champions League encounter at home next week Tuesday.
A fixture against Liverpool is also around the corner for the side currently lying seventh on the EPL table, with there being a concern that more poor results could lead to further unrest among the group.
Experienced centre-back Raphael Varane is currently out of favour under Ten Hag, while Jadon Sancho has been banished from first-team duties since September.
