Amorim has hailed Noussair Mazraoui as "the future" of the Red Devils following the Moroccan's performance in the new manager's first victory at the helm.
United triumphed 3-2 over Norwegian side Bodo Glimt on Thursday night, securing Amorim's maiden win as head coach in his first match at Old Trafford.
Mazraoui was integral to the success, providing an assist and completing an impressive 95% of his passes.
Since his arrival from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal in August, the 27-year-old has looked comfortable in a variety of positions, including left-back, right-back, midfield and most recently, right centre-back.
Speaking after the victory, Amorim was full of praise for former Ajax Amsterdam man.
"He's an incredible player, he's our future," he said The Standard.
"He played in different positions, he looks always fresh but we have to be careful. There's a lot of games, but he's here to stay. This kind of player is what we need."
