Manchester United have jumped in at the last minute to try to snatch an Arsenal target, according to reports in England.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with Lille star Gabriel Magalhaes of late, and have been clear favourites to sign the Brazilian despite interest from Napoli.
However, with Sky Sports having previously revealed that United were keeping tabs on the situation, the news outlet has now reported that the Red Devils have touched base with the player's representatives.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be looking for another centre-back, but ideally wants a left-sided player.
Gabriel helped Lille to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, and was a key man in their UEFA Champions League run.
Despite the reported interest from United, it is also claimed that the Manchester club has not made an official bid, or held discussions with Gabriel as yet.
The player is expected by many to move to the Premier League in a deal worth about £27 million (R617 million), although it is not yet clear as to whether he will head to London or Manchester.
