Manchester United have reportedly identified two strikers they believe could replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who has less than a year remaining on his contract at the Red Devils.
Ten Hag Explains Decision To Make Ronaldo Captain
According to The Telegraph, United have been doing work behind the scenes to look for possible replacements for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Ronaldo faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford amid his current form, having managed to score on just three occasions in 16 appearances, with reports suggesting he could be on the move sooner than the end of the season.
The Portuguese forward was criticised for his performance on the weekend in a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa, a match in which the experienced forward was named captain by Erik ten Hag.
It appears United have turned their attention back to Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, whose displays last season for RB Salzburg earned him a transfer to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, with the player set to officially join the German team next year.
Sesko, 19, was on the Red Devils' radar earlier this year, though ultimately chose a different path. The report claims it would take around £40 million for Leipzig to consider selling him in 2023, but he is not the only attacker being considered by United.
It is suggested that Juventus No. 7 Dusan Vlahovic is another forward admired by the 20-time English champions, who feel they could take advantage of the Bianconeri's struggles in an attempt to lure him to England.
Vlahovic, 22, joined the Italian giants from Fiorentina in January this year, and has since scored 17 goals in 36 matches across all competitions.
Man Utd Fans 'Turn On' Ronaldo With New Chant
Following United's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League last week, manager Erik ten Hag went public with his desire for options to be added to his weaponry, with it believed that Ronaldo's future departure will only bring more attention to the situation.
