Manchester United are reportedly working on signing one of Barcelona's most prominent players.

It seems that the Blaugrana are being proactive in their efforts to rejuvenate their squad as the midseason transfer window draws closer.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Catalan giants had agreed to sign German international Jonathan Tah for the end of next season, as he approaches the final six months of his existing deal at Bayer Leverkusen.
It was also revealed that his inclusion would likely mean departures would need to take place, and according to Mundo Deportivo, one of their star players is poised for a surprise exit from the Camp Nou in Frenkie de Jong.
The Netherlands international has seemingly fallen out of favour with Barca boss Hansi Flick, and persistent injuries have not helped his cause, with the same report claiming that he now wants to leave the five-time European champions.
One of the clubs believed to be keen on signing the would-be disgruntled star is Manchester United. The Red Devils have been courting the 27-year-old since 2022, when Erik ten Hag was first appointed manager of the club, but it was alleged that De Jong was always determined to stay with Barca.
It looks as though they were not deterred by his stance because the record English champions have maintained their interest, and now with the Arkel native said to be keen on an exit, it is understood that United are now working on a deal to bring him to Old Trafford.
