According to Dutch tactician De Telegraaf, the Red Devils are not far away from reaching an agreement to sign Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.
The 24-year-old is believed to have received a five-year contract proposal from the 20-time English champions, who are looking for defensive reinforcements following Raphael Varane's departure.
His representatives are reportedly in discussions with United over a potential deal, with manager Erik ten Hag said to have spoken to his former player multiple times.
The Dutch coach worked with the centre-back at Ajax Amsterdam in the Eredivisie prior to De Ligt's big-money transfer to Juventus in 2019, with the defender having made 70 appearances under Ten Hag.
While it is unclear as to how much Bayern would demand for his signature, Transfermarkt values the Netherlands international at €65 million.
He has found regular game time difficult to come by in recent times after often being overlooked by Thomas Tuchel, who has since left the Bavarians, in Germany.
