According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, the Red Devils are closing in on a deal to land Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee.
The former Bayern Munich forward currently plays for Bologna in the Serie A and has a release clause in his deal worth €40 million (R786.8 million).
United are currently deciding whether to trigger his buyout clause or "agree a separate price" after agreeing personal terms with the 23-year-old, who is currently representing his country at EURO 2024.
Zirkzee came off the bench to make his senior debut for the Netherlands in their 2-1 quarter-final victory over Turkey this past weekend.
The striker enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 campaign with Bologna in Italy, contributing to 19 goals in 37 matches across all competitions.
United appear to be progressing over another transfer target, with Bayern centre-back and Zirkzee's international teammate Matthijs de Ligt having reportedly made it clear he wants to join the club.
