A Paris Saint-Germain player has suffered a serious head injury after a horse-riding accident just one day after celebrating winning the Ligue 1 title with his teammates.

The club has confirmed that back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico is in hospital in Spain after suffering an injury to his head while horse-riding on Sunday.
Rico was on PSG's bench for their 1-1 away draw with Strasbourg on Saturday, a result that secured the team's latest Ligue 1 title win.
A spokesperson for the club reportedly told BBC News on Sunday that the 29-year-old is "in a serious condition", while the club said in a statement on Twitter that they "learned of the accident involving its player Sergio Rico on Sunday and remains in constant contact with his loved ones. The shot-stopper was said to be riding a horse in Spain when he collided with a runaway horse, with it being reported that he was taken to hospital in a helicopter after suffering a head trauma.

Rico did not make any appearance for PSG this season, but has been on the club's books since 2019.
