Strasbourg are now said to be close to completing a deal for a new striker amid the injured Lebogang Mothiba's expiring contract in June 2024.
The Johannesburg-born star suffered a devastating injury in December 2023, which ruled him out of Hugo Broos' plans for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Having sustained a patellar tendon rupture, the centre-forward successfully underwent surgery and his return date remains unknown as he continues his recovery.

However, the South African is now in the last six months of his contract, having joined the club back in August 2018.
Given his persistent injury struggles, it is still unclear whether he will be handed a new deal and it now appears that Strasbourg have already lined up another striker for the near future.
According to French outlet L'Equipe, Patrick Vieira's side are on the verge of signing Milos Lukovic from IMT Belgrade.
Aged just 18, the Serbian youngster will join the Ligue 1 outfit on a deal worth €4.7 million (R96 million), with €500 000 (R10 million) in bonuses.
The report further suggests that the teenager will spend the remainder of the season on loan at his current outfit Belgrade, where he has already scored 10 goals this season.
The teenager is also said to have been on Chelsea's radar for some time and given that Strasbourg and the Blues are now co-owned by the same consortium, Lukovic will now be heading to Les Alsaciens.
