The 22-year-old struck twice in Olympique Marseille's convincing 5-1 away victory over Brest in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Roberto De Zerbi was left impressed by what he saw from the former United striker, who spent last season on loan at Getafe in Spain after the Red Devils decided it was best he continued his career elsewhere.
This followed his arrest in 2022 on suspicion of attempted rape. He was later charged by authorities in England, but those charges were dropped when key witnesses withdrew their co-operation in the case.
De Zerbi, speaking after his and Greenwood's first official match in France, believes the forward's goal will do him good after Marseille fans protested his arrival.
"I am happy that he scored," he said, according to yahoo!sport.
"It will calm the controversies that surrounded his arrival."
The Italian continued his praise of the one-time England international, claiming he has qualities that separate him from others.

"Mason Greenwood is a player different from the others, he has an extraordinary level," he added.
