Following a difficult time in Spain after his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, the Frenchman appeared to be growing into one of the club's most important players under Spanish tactician Xavi Hernandez.
That all came to an end earlier this year, however, when Dembele jumped at the opportunity to leave the Catalan giants for the French side despite initial indications that he was set to extend his deal in Catalonia.
The transfer came as a surprise to many involved at Barcelona, as well as to supporters, who believed the 26-year-old would continue playing an integral role in the side as they began their LALIGA title defence.
Speaking this week about his decision to ultimately move on from the Spanish giants, Dembele suggested that his long-time admiration for PSG proved a key factor in his transfer.
"Indeed, I said I would stay at Barcelona, but after contacts with PSG I was convinced to leave," he told L'Equipe.
"Kylian did not try to convince me, I came to Paris because I love the club, it is a French club and I love it.
"I come from Evreux, not far from here. Everyone here talks about Paris Saint-Germain. It was written that one day I would sign for this club.
