With Pitso Mosimane arguably the most high-profile unemployed African manager in world football, here is a look at four more coaches who have not been in a job at all this season, including Zinedine Zidane, who has three UEFA Champions League titles but has not worked since 2021!

Graham Potter (last job: Chelsea)
Clubs have expressed interest in the Englishman since his time at Chelsea came to an end after just 31 matches in April this year. Potter was considered among the brightest touchline talents before his decision to swap Brighton Hove Albion for a different shade of blue in September 2022, a move the tactician, once tipped to be a potential England manager, might regret to this day. Potter was linked with Olympique Lyon in September, but reportedly believed the timing was not right for him to return to the sport. It will be interesting to see if the 48-year-old is able to excite supporters again as much as he did at the Seagulls, or whether that line of thinking is for the birds!
Antonio Conte (last job: Tottenham Hotspur)
If you've spent some time looking at Conte's Instagram page, you will see a man in no rush to return to football's hustle and bustle! From giving lectures at universities to spending time on a boat in Croatia, the 54-year-old is clearly enjoying his time with his family following his departure from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year. Conte is a serial winner, having claimed trophies with clubs such as Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan between 2011 and 2021, but ended his time in London, like most managers leaving the Lilywhites, without silverware. There is no doubting, however, that Conte will be back at some point as a man like him simply cannot be kept away for too long.
Zinedine Zidane (last job: Real Madrid)
At this point, it's worth wondering if the legendary Frenchman even still considers himself a coach! It has been longer than two years since Zidane graced a touchline with his enigmatic presence, having finished his last job on 30 June 2021. The 51-year-old has enjoyed a managerial career like no other, one that is remarkably unique and certainly impossible to match. At the highest level, the ex-Juventus midfielder has taken charge of just 263 games over two spells at Real Madrid and somehow has 11 trophies to his collection! This means the 1998 Ballon d'Or winner averages a piece of silverware for every 23.9 matches he oversees. There is nobody quite like him and his record proves it, but we're tired of waiting on his return!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (last job: Manchester United)
It is not entirely unsurprising Solskjaer hasn't found any of the job offers he has received since leaving Manchester United in 2021 enticing enough, but this is a manager who spent just less than three years in charge of one of football's most demanding clubs. The Norwegian ultimately failed to bring titles back to United after showing early promise, with Manchester City and Liverpool proving too difficult to overcome during his spell in charge. The 50-year-old was often accused of lacking tactical knowledge and for allowing his players to get away with too much, but there's no denying he put smiles on faces at Old Trafford again following a sour end to Jose Mourinho's reign!
