Report: Why Zinedine Zidane Quit Real Madrid Again

After Zinedine Zidane officially resigned from his Real Madrid post this week, it has now been revealed why he stepped down for a second time.

The Frenchman enjoyed great success in his first spell with the club where he won three successive UEFA Champions League titles and a LaLiga title.

After all that success, he stepped down in 2018 but returned to Spanish capital a season later after Santiago Solari's failed stint.

The 2020/21 season campaign was an exhausting one for the team, who suffered a number of injuries and had to deal with a congested fixture list.

Diario AS report that Zidane is aware that a rebuild is needed, but opted to leave as he does not want cut a number of players from the squad that helped with the success over the last five seasons.

As a result, the Frenchman feels a new manager that is not connected with the team yet will be better suited to breaking up the squad.

The Spanish publication also report that his position being under threat in December and the pressure from the media convinced him to leave.
