During the 2024 UEFA European Championship, Nico Williams emerged as a top winger in world football.
The 22-year-old attacker played a major role in helping Spain win a record-setting fourth EUROs, even scoring in and winning Man of the Match honours for his display in the final against England.
His performances in Germany subsequently garnered a lot of interest from many elite European clubs, including the Blaugrana and Les Parisiens.
The Pamplona native is rumoured to have a €58 million (R1.1 billion) release clause in his contract with Athletic Club, but it does not seem like either side will trigger it as the young star has already returned to pre-season training with the Basque side.

According to Marca, Williams was only expected to return for pre-season on 12 August, but his return a week earlier suggests that he will not be leaving San Memes in this transfer window.
The same report claims that Lehoiak were confident of keeping their talisman as neither the player nor those close to him had informed the club of a desire to leave northern Spain.
