Marcelo Dropped By Zinedine Zidane After Fallout

Marcelo Dropped By Zinedine Zidane After Fallout

Despite Zinedine Zidane's defence being riddled with injuries, Marcelo has been dropped for Real Madrid's latest matchday squad following a reported clash with his manager.

Los Blancos are set to take on Granada in a LaLiga fixture on Thursday night, and will need the three points to stay in the title race.

News ahead of the match is that left-back Ferland Mendy will miss the rest of the campaign, with the Frenchman joining Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez on the sidelines.

Marcelo, therefore, appeared to be in line to start for the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners on Thursday, but he was left out of Zidane's matchday squad altogether.

According to Goal, the veteran defender's omission is down to an argument he recently had with his manager, with Marcelo believed to be annoyed with Zidane's tactics and line-up decisions throughout the campaign.

The fullback has started just 34% of Real's league games this season so far, while he has featured only 18 times across all competitions.

Marcelo is rumoured to be interested in leaving the club at the end of the campaign, having been on Real's books since 2007.
