Last weekend, Real Valladolid manager Paulo Pezzolano named 18-year-old Abdulai Juma Bah in his starting XI for a second LALIGA matchday.
What was supposed to be a developmental loan to Valladolid's Segunda Federacion side has turned out to be much more as Bah has seemingly made a significant impression on the northern Spanish side.
When Pezzolano named him in his team for their 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad, the Freetown native not only became the first Sierra Leonean to play in the Spanish top flight, but joined the likes of Jackson in being one of the few players in league history to join a LALIGA side straight from the African continent, having arrived on loan from AIK Freetong in his home nation.
Now, the central defender is staking his claim to become a mainstay in Pezzolano's first XI.
After his debut against the Basque giants, the towering defender pulled the curtain back on how he progressed from Real Valladolid Promesas to the senior side, as well as how he found out that he was going to start against La Reale.
"The coach just called me for training and then I started training with the first team," Juma Bah said.
"It was amazing training with them, so I know the coach believes and trusts in me, that's why he brought me here to play and I want to give my all to him."
When recalling how he found out that he was starting against Sociedad, he added: "When we were in the dressing room, the board came up and I saw my name. They told me, 'Juma, you're going to start'. My heart started pumping so fast, because I couldn't believe that I was going to start.
