Official: Juventus Sign Alvaro Morata

Juventus have confirmed the return of former Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata on a one-year loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent.

The Spaniard, who has moved between a number of Europe's top clubs over the past few years, is set to return to Serie A, where he arguably had one of his best playing spells.

Morata was on the books of Atletico Madrid, having joined Diego Simeone's side from Chelsea in January 2019 – on an initial loan deal that was made permanent in July this year – but with Luis Suarez being linked with a move to the Rojiblancos, Morata has now left for Turin.

He played for Juve between 2014 and 2016, scoring 27 goals in 93 games, and his form at that time prompted a return to Real Madrid through a buy-back clause, before he left for England a year later.

Juve had already documented the striker's arrival and medicals via their social media channels earlier this week.

The transfer is part of a bigger saga that was layered with twists as the Bianconeri had actually already reached an agreement to sign Edin Dzeko from AS Roma, but a complication in the latter club's bid to sign Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli halted proceedings.

Morata also only became available due to the fact that Atletico are reportedly closing in on FC Barcelona's Suarez, who was also heavily linked with a move to Juve over the last few weeks.
