At Chelsea, he will link up with his former Atletico Madrid teammates Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis and Diego Costa, along with Colombia teammate Juan Cuadrado.
"I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can't wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe," he told the club's official website.
The striker only scored six goals and assisted a further five in 33 games for Manchester United last season, and initially returned to his parent club, Monaco.
