Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick joked that Thiago Alcantara is "staying" following the club's 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final, before breaking his silence on the transfer rumours surrounding the Brazilian.
Thiago has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool as he enters the final year of his contract in Germany.
The former FC Barcelona star was at his best in the final, pulling the strings and dictating the game as Bayern neutralised a star-studded PSG side.
Touching on the topic after the match, Flick first joked that the Spaniard had committed to staying.
"He told me that he would stay," the coach said with a straight face, before laughing moments later.
"No, I just thanked him. Just like I did every other player.
"I don't know (what his future will be), he doesn't know himself yet. Because we all focused on this Champions League final.
"We'll have to wait and see what happens in the following days."
Reports have suggested that the transfer fee for Thiago has been a stumbling block for Liverpool, considering that in a year the player will be a free agent.
However, his impressive performances in the final stages of the 2019/20 Champions League campaign may increase the amount of interest in the midfielder.
