Croatia Coach Reveals Wish For Modric's Future

Croatia Coach Reveals Wish For Modric's Future

With Croatia and Luka Modric having just been knocked out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, head coach Zlatko Dalic has revealed his wish for the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner's international future.

Messi Reacts To Reaching World Cup Final

Dalic and his charges were unable to make it to a second successive World Cup final after falling to beat Argentina in a 3-0 defeat in the competition's final four.

Croatia will now prepares to take on the loser from Morocco and France's semi-final in the tournament's third-place play-off match, which will take place on Saturday evening.

During the defeat to Argentina, Croatia and Real Madrid legend Luka Modric came off in the 80th minute, and at 37 years old, many believe the creative midfielder may have played his final game for the Checkered Ones, but his coach has since suggested that 2018's best player may continue until the next UEFA European Championship.

"Perhaps this is the end of the generation of the World Cups, a couple have reached an age and have to see what happens in 2026," Dalic said, as per ESPN.

"We have had a great team and this generation will finish off their career at Euro 2024. We have the Nations League and an excellent generation who reached two semi-finals."

Modric is also in the final months of his contract at Los Blancos, but given his early-season form with both Real and his national team, it is likely that former Dinamo Zagreb man is far from finished.

While a number of international managers have left their roles after World Cup disappointment, Dalic has vowed to continue with his nation.

"I will continue," he added.

"My contract is until the 2024 European Championship and in six months we have the Nations League finals.

"My plan is to take Croatia to Euro 2024."
