Belgium talisman Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that he feels undeserving of the Man of the Match award he received after his side's 1-0 victory over Canada on Wednesday night.
Reason For Glazers' Sale Of Man Utd Revealed?
The Red Devils narrowly made it past their first test at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with a goal courtesy of Michy Batshuayi being the difference in their Group F encounter.
The Maple Leafs will perhaps feel hard done by considering they created more chances to score, the biggest coming from the penalty spot. However, Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies had his spot-kick saved by Thibaut Courtois in the 10th minute, denying the Canadians their first-ever World Cup goal.
Despite Batshuayi and Courtois' efforts, though, neither captured the Man of the Match award, which instead went to De Bruyne, who was bemused as to why he was the recipient.
"We didn't play well enough as a team. I do not know why I won Man of the Match, maybe because of my name," he told reporters, as per the Daily Mail.
"Credit to Canada. We could not get through their press, we did not play a good game today, me included, but we found a way to win."
