A key Argentina international could be ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the coming days, after he picked up an injury playing for his club.
Messi To Make Special World Cup Request To PSG
Since manager Lionel Scaloni's appointment in 2018, 26-year-old midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been a regular starter for the Albiceleste and has provided more assists (seven) than any of his colleagues on the international stage.
Although his move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 has not worked out like he might have wanted, the player has been consistent for Argentina, with the South American giants claiming the Copa America title in 2021 and the Finalissima trophy in 2022.
The player, currently on loan at Villarreal from Spurs, was substituted off in the 25th minute of their LaLiga clash against Athletic Bilbao on the weekend, with it being reported that his injury could be worse than initially feared.
Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has now claimed that the Yellow Submarine will confirm the extent of his injury in the coming hours, and that the current feeling is Lo Celso could be a doubt for the World Cup.
