South Africa's hopes of hosting the 2021 FIFA World Cup have reportedly received a big boost.
There will be a different hosts for next year's tournament after Japan pulled out this month as they not in a position to hold the event due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic.
South African Football Association have reportedly announced their intention to host the prestigious tournament that will feature Chelsea and Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly.
However, it seems South Africa will face less competition for the hosting rights as UOL Esporte have reported that Brazil have withdrawn from the race to host the tournament.
The host nation is also expected to provide a team for the competition, but it remains to be seen who that team will be.
The teams have already qualified for the tournament include Chelsea, Al Ahly and Oceania FC-nominated side Auckland City, while the winners for the 2021 Copa Libertadores, the AFC Champions League and CONCACAF Champions League must still be determined.
