Mosimane's Red Eagles gave a good account of themselves against the reigning European champions in Qatar. Unsurprisingly, a Robert Lewandowski brace proved to be the difference between the two sides on the night, with the Germans running out 2-0 winners.
While the two sides were evenly matched for the most part on the field, the same cannot be said for their market values.
While Mosimane's men are undoubtedly the best team on the African continent, they are still miles behind their European counterparts. According to Transfermarkt, Mosimane's Al Ahly squad have a market value of €25.50m (±R455m) which looks impressive, however, that amount is swiftly dwarfed by Bayern's mammoth market value of €879.50m (±R15.7b).
Bayern's most valuable player, Serge Gnabry, has an impressive €90m (±R160m) market value, while for Ahly, their captain and goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, ranks as their most valuable player at €2.50m (±R44m).
