Barcelona have announced that their first-team captain has left the club just a week before the new LALIGA season gets underway.

On Sunday night, the Catalan club revealed that right-back Sergi Roberto has bid farewell as a free agent after 18 years.
The 32-year-old's deal expired in July, but confirmation of the Spaniard's future was only communicated on the weekend.

The 11-time Spain international leaves the Blaugrana after making 373 appearances in 11 years as a senior player, during which he claimed 20 trophies.
Roberto has been linked with Italian side Fiorentina and Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, with his departure from Barcelona having been on the cards for weeks.

Meanwhile, on their website, Barca have also confirmed that the club will host a farewell event for Roberto on Tuesday afternoon.
