Messi, who was making his first start for the club since suffering a calf injury during pre-season, had to be substituted midway through the match against El Submarino Amarillo after picking up an abductor strain.
Upon receiving treatment, the Argentine forward was seen on El Golazo de Gol, as reported by Marca, repeating the words "no me puedo romper", which roughly translates to "I cannot be injured", to the physiotherapist.
Barca manager Ernesto Valverde confirmed Messi's injury after the match, and highlighted how much of a blow the 32-year-old's absence is for the team.

"It's some discomfort in the abductor and so we didn't want to risk it," the manager said, as per Sky Sports.
"When something happens to Messi, the world stops. Not only here at Barcelona. I don't think it is serious. We did not want to take any risk. We will see anyway. We will see tomorrow.
"I cannot tell you anything now. He has been injured for a long time and we do not want to take any risks at the moment."
