On Tuesday, nine-time Serie A champions Genoa announced the appointment of former Barca and PSG star Thiago Motta as the club's new head coach following the sacking of Aurelio Andreazzoli.
Motta relinquished his role as coach of Les Parisiens' U19 side in order to return to Genoa, for whom he played during the 2008/09 campaign, and will oversee his first match in charge of the club against against Brescia this weekend.
The 37-year-old arrives at a time when Genoa are languishing in the relegation zone after claiming just five points from their opening eight Serie A matches this season.
He enjoyed a storied playing career which, apart from his time with Genoa and a brief stint with Atletico Madrid, included league-winning spells at Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSG.
