It seems the Catalan giants are attempting to be proactive regarding their succession plan for Robert Lewandowski.
While the legendary Pole is currently leading the race for the La Liga Golden Boot, he is 36 years old, and it appears Barca want to secure a striker who can replace the Warsaw native immediately after he departs Camp Nou.
Though multiple names have been suggested as possible targets for the Blaugrana, the latest believed to be added to Barca's wishlist is Alexander Isak. The Newcastle United hitman has been in fine form for the Geordie side since signing for them, scoring 40 goals in 80 appearances.
Isak was also prolific in Spain during his three-year stint with Real Sociedad in the Basque Country, and according to The Sun, the LALIGA table-toppers are keen on bringing the Swede back to the Spanish top flight.
The same report, however, suggests they will face stiff competition from English giants Arsenal. The Gunners have been heavily linked with Isak in the past, and it is understood they will try to lure him away from St. James' Park at the end of the season.

The north Londoners have also named Isak's international teammate, Viktor Gyokeres, and Italian forward Mateo Retegui as alternative targets should they fail to land the Solna native.
