UEFA Europa League Result: Liverpool 1-1 Sion Date: 1 October 2015 Venue: Anfield Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Sion in their UEFA Europa League clash at Anfield on Thursday night. Brendan Rodgers' charges were off to the ideal start as they took the lead in the fourth minute. Divock Origi made progress down the right flank before crossing for Adam Lallana who tucked it away. The hosts went close in the 16th minute when Joe Allen ghosted through the Sion midfield before playing the ball into the path of Danny Ings, but he couldn't get a shot away. The visitors made Liverpool pay for their profligacy moments later as they netted the equaliser. Assifuah chested down a ball from midfield and poked it home past Simon Mignolet. Ings was in the thick of it again in the 32nd minute when Lallana curled in a great cross from the left wing but the striker failed to make contact with the ball and it went harmlessly past the face of goal. On the stroke of half-time the Reds created another great chance to reclaim their lead. Ings played in Origi but the forward hesitated and let the chance slip away. Just past the hour mark Origi had another top chance as he was put through by Allen, but he tried to power his shot home instead of placing it and saw Vanins block it with his legs.
