UEFA Europa League Report: AS Monaco 1-1 Tottenham 1 October 2015

UEFA Europa League Result: Monaco 1-1 Tottenham Date: 1 October 2015 Venue: Stadio Louis II Tottenham conceded a late equaliser in Monaco on Thursday night to draw 1-1 in their UEFA Europa League group stage clash. Spurs should have taken the lead in the 21st minute when Danny Rose burst into the final third and played Harry Kane through on goal. However, the striker couldn't get a shot away and layed it off for Nacer Chadli, but his shot went over. The English side finally broke through in the 35th minute when Chadli made his way forward before picking out Alli whose shot was parried by Danijel Subasic. The rebound fell kindly for Erik Lamela and he rolled it into the empty goalmouth. The hosts almost drew level a few minutes later as Lacina Traore flicked on the ball into the path of Adama Traore, but his shot at the near post was brilliantly saved by Hugo Lloris. Moments before the break Monaco were inches away from levelling matters. Traore picked out Llemar on the left and his low cross was sent just wide by Jan Vertonghen. The French side were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty in the 62nd minute when Fabinho's cross into the Spurs area was blocked by the outstretched arm of Rose. The Monaco players protested but the referee didn't spot it. In the 81st minute the hosts found their opening goal. Dirar marauded down the right flank and sent a cross towards Stephan El Shaarawy who headed home to grab a point.
