England booked their spot in the quarter-finals of EURO 2024 after defeating Slovakia 2-1 in extra-time on Sunday evening.

areth Southgate made just one change from the draw with Slovenia, as Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo made his first start in place of Conor Gallagher.
Slovakia nearly go the breakthrough after 12 minutes when Haraslin got behind Kyle Walker but his goal-bound strike was cleared away by Marc Geuhi in the box.
While England struggled to create chances, it was Slovakia who got the opening goal in the 24th minute, as Ivan Schranz bagged his third goal of the campaign with a composed finish after being played in by David Streiec.
As for the Three Lions, it was another disappointing opening 45 minutes the likes of Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane being kept quiet in the final third.

That nearly changed four minutes after the break when Foden turned home Kieran Trippier's low cross in the box, but the goal was ruled out for the former being in an offside position.
With England pushing for the equaliser, Southgate made his first change on 65 minutes as Cole Palmer replaced Trippier while Bukayo Saka moved to left-back, a position he played in his early days at Arsenal.
The Three Lions had a big chance to equalise in the 78th minute when Kane got on the end of a free-kick but sent his close-range header over the target from six yards.
England's frustration grew once again as Declan Rice saw his powerful strike from distance crash against the upright before Kane volleyed over from the rebound in the box. With the gam heading for a Slovakia, England popped up with the equaliser thanks to Jude Bellingham's superb bicycle kick to send the game to extra-time.
England completed the turnaround minutes into extra-time when Ivan Toney nodded the ball into the path of Kane, who powered home a header for his second goal of the competition.
