With Bayern Munich having been rumoured to be interested in acquiring Harry Kane's services, it seems the interest to move to the Bavarians may be mutual.
Messi Linked With January Move
Kane's current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires at the end of next season, and the Lilywhites are eager to keep their star man, but it appears that the Englishman may not share the same sentiment.
According to the Evening Standard, the 29-year-old has halted contract negotiations with the north London side and wants to focus solely on preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The England forward is currently the highest-paid player at the club, earning £200 000 (R4.2 million) a week, and Spurs do not want to lose their talisman.
However, the Bavarian giants are understood to be keen to replace Robert Lewandowski with a forward akin to the Pole, and Kane has reportedly been deemed a more than adequate alternative.
Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has admitted that Kane would be a dream acquisition in the future, and with the clock ticking on the London native's current deal, the Bundesliga club will be paying close attention to his situation in London.
In this campaign, the Englishman has been influential for Antonio Conte's charges as the Lilywhites are off to their best-ever start to a Premier League season, with Kane already finding the back of the net 10 times and also bagging one assist in the league.
Mane List His Favourites For The FIFA World Cup
Spurs' fortunes have changed drastically under the Italian manager, which may sway the forward into staying in the English capital, but it seems Bayern will pounce should the opportunity present itself.
The only true centre-forwards the 32-time Bundesliga champions have today are Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Mathys Tel, making it likely the German side will look to tie down some new reinforcements soon.
