Eriksson enjoyed a long career in management, having worked for top clubs such as Roma, Lazio, Benfica and Manchester City.
Arguably his most famous spell as a coach came in his five years as England manager between 2001 and 2006, during which he worked with high-profile stars such as Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham.
In January this year, Eriksson announced he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, and that he had been given about a year to live.
The late tactician collected multiple pieces of silverware during his career on the sidelines, including two Serie A titles, while he was also named as Serie A's Coach of the Year in 2000.
