Venue: Tottenham Stadium
The Reds remained unchanged from the draw against Fulham, apart from Alexis Mac Allister, who took the place of Curtis Jones with the front three of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.
Arne Slot's charges were quick off the blocks as just after Salah was denied by the crossbar, midway into the first stanza, Diaz eventually broke the deadlock with a header from a deep cross by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool were 2-0 up ten minutes before the break after Mac Allister powered home a header in the box from a flick on by Dominik Szoboszlai.
Spurs only got into the game shortly before the interval after James Maddison pulled a goal with a clinical finish in the box after a mistake at the back by Liverpool.
However, Szoboszlai restored a two-goal cushion for the visitors on the stroke of half-time with a tap-in in after a run and cut-back by Salah.
The Reds had a perfect start in the second stanza after Salah took the game away from the Lilywhites seven minutes from the interval, as he made it 4-1 with a strike from a rebound.
Liverpool were running riot on the hour-mark, as Salah made it 5-1 and completed his brace with a simple tap-in after a cut-back by Szoboszlai.
The Reds slowed down their tempo with 20 minutes to go and Dejan Kulusevski got a second goal back for Ange Postecoglou's men with a first-time shot in the box after he was teed up by Dominic Solanke.
Diaz had a glorious chance to make it 6-2 for The Reds with 13 minutes remaining after he raced clear on goal but his lob over shot-stopper Fraser Forster missed the gaping net and bounced on the outside top of the net.
Spurs had something to play for in the last eight minutes after Solanke got a third goal back with a sweeping shot in the box after a knockdown by Brennan Johnson.
But the hopes for the Lilywhites disappeared just two minutes later after Diaz made it 6-3 and got his brace with a low finish from a square pass by Salah.
The Reds opened a four-point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand
