Guardiola's charges got their reward on 21 minutes when Stolarczyk could only parry Phil Foden's pass into the path of Savinho, who was on hand to slot home his first league goal of the season.
The visitors were by no means perfect defensively, as they nearly saw their lead wiped out on 39 minutes when Facundo Buonanotte directed his header onto the upright.
Leicester were a lot more threatening in the second period and they went close to levelling matters on the hour through Jamie Vardy's header, which was cleared off the line by Manuel Akanji.
The hosts were made to rue that miss as the Cityzens doubled their lead in the 74th minute as Savinho turned provider to pick out Haaland, who nodded home from close range.
That goal proved to be enough to knock the wind out of Leicester's sail in the closing stages, as the defending champions get back on the winning trail.
