UCL Race: Man City Win, Newcastle Thrashed

Everton 0-2 Manchester City

Manchester City kept their UEFA Champions League ambitions live with a 2-0 win away to Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The first half ended goalless at Goodison Park despite Pep Guardiola's charges dominating the possession.

The defending league champions had to wait until the 84th minute for the opening goal as youngster Nico O'Reilly got his first league goal after being set up by Matheus Nunes.

Mateo Kovačić made the game safe in time added on with a first-time finish on the edge of the box.

Aston Villa 4-1 Newcastle United

Aston Villa bounced back from their UEFA Champions League exit by thrashing Newcastle United 4-1 on Saturday evening.

Ollie Watkins bagged a brace on his return to the starting line-up for Villa, while Andre Onana and an own goal from Dan Burn completed the rout.

Newcastle remain in third spot after the loss, while Villa have moved up to sixth spot, level on points with fifth-place Nottingham Forest.

Brentford 4-2 Brighton and Hove Albion

Brentford returned to winning ways in the league after defeating in a six-goal thriller on Saturday.

Bryan Mbuemo bagged a brace while Yoanne Wissa and Christian Nørgaard were on target for the Bees.

Danny Welbeck and Kaoru Mitoma also netted for Brighton, who finished the game with ten men after Joao Pedro's sending off in the 60th minute.

Crystal Palace 0-0 Bournemouth

Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth played to a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

While there weren't any goals on the day, the Eagles did have a player sent off when Chris Richards was given his marching orders on the stroke of halftime.

West Ham United 1- Southampton

Relegated Southampton struck late in the second half to secure a 1-1 draw away to West Ham United.

Jarrod Bowen gifted the Hammers the lead after 47 minutes, but the Saints rescued a point thanks to Chelsea loanee Lesley Ugochukwu's first goal of the season.
