On Wednesday, several publications across Spain reported that an agreement between midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and the Catalan giants had been reached.
The Germany international was integral in City's treble win this past season, scoring important goals as they clinched the Premier League title and a brace in their FA Cup final victory over Manchester United.
Gundogan was Pep Guardiola's first signing after the Spaniard's arrival from Bayern Munich in 2016, but is said to have decided to not extend his current deal, which expires at the end of this month.
According to Spanish journalist Helena Condis, the 32-year-old was left "insulted" after the English side offered a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
Still, however, the ex-Borussia Dortmund man is expected to only make his move to Barcelona official after saying farewell to City out of respect for the club and its fans.
It has been reported that Gundogan wants to be the one to communicate his decision before the Citizens and the Blaugrana.
