Reports claim that one of Chelsea's African stars has rejected a new contract offer from the Blues due to the "disrespectful" wages promised.

According to The Sun, the west Londoners have offered Edouard Mendy a new long-term deal in an effort to keep the Senegalese goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge, three years before his current contract with the five-time Premier League winners is set to expire.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper has, however, decided to reject the new terms because he feels he is not being shown enough gratitude and respect from the club in terms of the wages on offer.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations winner has been, for the most part, Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper since arriving from Stade Rennais in 2020.
During that time, he helped the English giants capture their second UEFA Champions League title, and was also in goal for their first-ever FIFA Club World Cup triumph.
Having managed these achievements in a relatively short amount of time, the west African reportedly feels he deserves to be paid at least the same amount as goalkeeping teammate Kepa Arrizabalaga.
As per the same report, Mendy's weekly wages currently sit at £100 000 (R2 million), with Arrizabalaga's said to be double that.

While The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper for 2021 has largely occupied the No. 1 spot at Chelsea since making his arrival, this season has been a different story. He and the abovementioned Spaniard have been interchanging in goal so far in this campaign, with injuries to both destabilising the club's goalkeeping situation.
Chelsea's next match is against Bournemouth in the Premier League next Tuesday.
The English top flight officially returns to action following the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Monday, however, when the Blues' London rivals and league leaders Arsenal take on West Ham United in one of seven much-anticipated matches on Boxing Day.
